Autumn 2025 marks an exciting chapter as Sight Support and Social Hub steps forward with its refreshed name and renewed mission. The season began with a celebratory ribbon-cutting, symbolising growth, confidence and a modern approach to community support for people living with sight loss.
This edition highlights the spirit of togetherness that continues to define the hub. Fundraising events — from a lively mediumship evening to community raffles — have brought members, families and supporters together while helping keep services running strong.
The summer outings were another standout, offering members the chance to explore, dine and enjoy relaxing days away. These trips continue into autumn, providing meaningful social time and a welcome change of scenery.
Guest speakers from local services have been visiting regularly, offering practical advice on safety, referrals and everyday wellbeing. Their sessions give members direct access to information that can make a real difference.
A particularly uplifting highlight is the “Magic Moments” programme. Each month, the Bairns Group joins for intergenerational singing sessions, blending baby giggles with familiar melodies and creating a warm, joyful atmosphere for everyone involved.
This season’s newsletter also brings the usual favourites — crosswords, word searches, So-Duko and updates on music visits such as the popular Dee Ukes. These additions offer light-hearted fun while strengthening cognitive skills and social connection.
The weekly timetable remains packed with activities, from Boccia and Choir to Games, Line Dancing and Armchair Aerobics. Combined with the daily two-course lunch, the hub continues to offer a welcoming rhythm of activity, comfort and companionship.
As autumn unfolds, Sight Support and Social Hub is stepping confidently into this new chapter. With partnerships growing, community events thriving and members always at the centre, the season promises connection, purpose and plenty to look forward to.
